Granite is more sustainable

Recently, a life cycle assessment study for different types of flooring and floor coverings on standard surfaces was published by the Institute of Building Materials at the University of Stuttgart.

 

This study showed that granite is extremely sustainable when compared to other floor coverings. Natural stone is also ecologically the best choice with regard to production, assembly and daily use when compared to other types of coating.

 

In the Global Warming Impact (GWP) impact category, the production and installation of natural stone slabs clearly show a lower CO2 equivalent than when compared to other types of coating.
